The Chevy Equinox gets a refresh for 2022, with revised styling that sees the model with restyled LED headlights, a redesigned grille, and new front and rear bumper designs. There’s a sporty new trim called the RS. It comes with 19-inch Dark Android-painted wheels, a Gloss Black mesh grille, LED headlights, a redesigned lower fascia, a Black Ice surround, and exclusive black badging. The attractive cabin features Black Ice chrome accents, a black headliner, and Jet Black cloth seating with red stitching. The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox is available in four trim levels, listed as LS, LT, RS and Premier. The Equinox is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft, paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional. The engine’s start-stop system can now be disabled via a push button.
The EPA estimates the fuel economy for the 2022 Equinox at 26 mpg city/31 mpg highway for models with front-wheel drive.* With all-wheel drive, the Equinox checks in with 25 mpg city/30 mpg highway.
The base Equinox LS trim comes with a long list of standard features, including 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, keyless entry, push-button start, a rearview camera, cloth upholstery, and the OnStar emergency telematics system. The Equinox also has a standard rear-seat alert system that prevents drivers from leaving young children or pets in the rear seat. The standard Teen Driver system lets owners limit the Equinox’s top speed and audio system volume when younger drivers are behind the wheel. It can also send a report home that details how the vehicle was driven.
The infotainment system features a 7-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required) and USB ports.
The Chevy Safety Assist package also comes standard. It includes lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights.
