The Suburban gets updated for 2021. According to the Chevy dealer serving Cottonwood, the Suburban now has even more room in the third row and more cargo space. The extra room is made possible, in part, by the Suburban’s new independent rear suspension system. The 2021 Suburban also gets a new available diesel engine, new driver-assist features, and new features for the infotainment system.

There are six trim levels on offer (LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier and High Country), so there’s a model for every need. The Z71 trim gets standard all-wheel drive, while the other models get standard rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. A 10-speed automatic is the sole transmission offering.

All Suburbans except the High Country are motivated by a 5.3-liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The High country is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 that generates 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of twist. All trims except the Z71 have an optional turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine that puts out 277 hp and 460 lb-ft.

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is a hit with drivers and the automotive press. Autoweek writes: “The 2021 Chevy Suburban’s main competition is the Ford Expedition, the Toyota Sequoia and maybe the Nissan Armada. This new one is so refined and quiet and powerful, I’d put it at the top of that list with the Ford second.”

Buyers who want an SUV with plenty of muscle for towing will appreciate the Suburban’s maximum towing capacity of 8,000 pounds when equipped with the diesel engine, rear-wheel drive and the Max Trailering Package. The maximum payload is 1,625 pounds. There’s plenty of room for storing cargo, with class-leading cargo space of 144.7 cubic feet.

The base Suburban LS comes with push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, keyless open, remote start, premium cloth seats and power front seats. The infotainment system includes a 10-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Advanced safety gear includes automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection.

Standard features in the LT trim include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a hands-free power liftgate, leather upholstery, heated front seats, driver’s seat memory and a universal garage remote. Also standard is a wireless phone charger and a premium Bose stereo system with nine speakers.

The Z71 trim gets standard four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case. It also comes with all-terrain tires, a front skidplate and hill-descent control. The Z71 and High Country trims get an available air suspension. The optional Max Trailering package features a hitch view in the backup camera, a hitch guidance system, and a more robust radiator and cooling fan.

All Suburban trims come with a Wi-Fi hotspot, 4G LTE integration, adaptive cruise control and OnStar connected services.
