The 2021 Chevrolet Equinox seats five passengers. According to the Prescott Chevrolet dealer, the Equinox is offered in four trim levels: L, LS, LT and Premier. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all trims except the L get available all-wheel drive. The Equinox is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine generating 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel economy is excellent for its segment. The 2021 Equinox gets an EPA-estimated rating of 26 mpg city/31 mpg highway with front-wheel drive and 25 mpg city/30 mpg highway with all-wheel drive.*

The Equinox continues to garner excellent reviews from the automotive media. Autotrader wrote: “Among its fierce competition, the Equinox is competent and a strong seller with a starting price — around $24,000 — that undercuts others. The Equinox has good interior space, simple controls, comfortable driving manners, and a nice set of standard active safety features, such as automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and in-vehicle Wi-Fi are other perks.”

The base L trim comes plenty of standard features, including 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, heated mirrors, an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo system, four USB ports and Teen Driver. The Teen Driver system lets parents restrict certain functions such as the audio system’s volume and the vehicle’s top speed. Teen Driver can even compile a report detailing the way the Equinox was driven. Also standard is OnStar and subscription-based 4G LTE connectivity with a Wi-Fi hotspot. Safety features that come standard include lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and a rear-seat reminder.

The top-spec Premier trim includes 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery, ambient lighting, LED headlights and taillights, fog lights, heated exterior mirrors, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a hands-free power liftgate, chrome exterior accents, an 8-inch touchscreen, a high-definition rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear parking sensors and wireless charging. Option packages for the Equinox Premier include the Confidence & Convenience II package and the Infotainment II package. The Redline Edition appearance package adds black exterior trim with red accents.

Buyers will be glad to know the 2021 Chevrolet Equinox is a very safe vehicle. The IIHS gave the 2021 Equinox it’s top score of Good in all crash tests. The NHTSA gave the Equinox five-out-of-five star for overall safety.
